I want to start a food truck! Who's with me?
It will be called Fried and True... a spin-off from the phrase tried and true. I'll serve delectables of all types breaded and deep-fried to a golden perfection. No? It's ok... it wouldn't be the first time I had a crazy vision for a themed eatery.
My brother always gets a good laugh when I share my ideas. Some, I must admit, would never work.
Let me include you in on a few.
1. Flambe: In this restaurant, everything is served on fire. Everything. Your drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts, and check. You see why this is a bad idea:)
2. Midgets: In this eatery, everything is over sized. It's over sized so that you feel... well, so that you feel like a midget. Right away I knew this wouldn't fly. Although it would be a novelty eatery such as Fat Eddies, it would ultimately incur the wrath of equal rights groups and would be deemed politically incorrect. My heart of course would be in the right place... but everyone would be looking down on me
You see... I like to dream, and when I say dream I mean vision casting, or pursuing passions or seeing ambitions come to life. I think it is a crucial part of who I am and how I am made. Some dreams and passions for obvious reasons never got off the ground. Some are still brewing in my head and heart.... and some have just been born. Others have played a big part in who I have become as a husband and father.
I think it's a good thing.
Without ambition and passion... you die.
Well, maybe not literally, but in some sense or another your proverbial spark begins to diminish. It's quite possible that, before knowing it, you become a floater. What is a floater you ask? A floater is someone who exists in life rather than living in it. Most comparatively to that of a zombie. It's not a good thing and I'll tell you why.
You see, I believe that everyone here on this big ball we call Earth has an important part, a function, a purpose, a mission. When we become floaters... our potential impact in making this world a better place becomes extremely limited. That to me is the sad part.
It can be a bit of a toss up though. I mean, everyone has their own ideas, agendas, and plans. Everyone has a certain stick as to which they measure success. Also, who is to say whether or not a person is living or merely existing. This idea... of success and how that looks can be argued, looked up and down, and cross-examined all-day-long.
I guess for me what it really boils down to are these two questions.
1. What brings you to life? I means honest, fruitful, inspiring life.
and...
2. How can you use those passions, ambitions, and dreams to make a positive impact on those around you.
Ultimately... I know that I will have many ideas, passions, and dreams that may never take flight. And, I am fine with that. The point is that I never stop dreaming. The hope is I never lose that spark.
I hope you don't either.
Good stuff C-lo
ReplyDeleteI love you baby and I am so glad that you have a lot of ambitions, even if they don't always come alive! Like opening a kids camp or becoming a police officer! It shows where your heart is, and maybe someday you will, you never know! You wouldn't be you without your "big ideas!"
ReplyDeleteI like it Carlos. Is it important to have passion and ambition, which I would say is closely linked to perseverance. I have to say the oversized restaurant idea would be fun--just don't call it midget. It could be like when people come in they're 'shrunk.' The only issue would be it would require more space for the tables and chairs, meaning less capacity for people. But that'd be fun. And sorry, but when I think of floaters, only one thing comes to mind. And sinkers. ha ha. Enjoyed it thought man!
ReplyDeletecarlos, i don't usually care for blogs, i find them painfully boring. yours is great. you had me from start to finish.

Thank you guys! I appreciate you taking the time to write and share your hearts.
ReplyDeleteThe things that bring me to life, make me feel like an intelligent man, and father. 1: When I get to create, build, shape and craft something. Whether it be my 170 volt neon Christmas ornament, or when I get to fix a toy for my boys in an unorthodox fashion. I'm just an inventive person, and to feel at peace, or relaxed, I need to be creating.
ReplyDeleteShane, Exactly! When you are doing what you were made, gifted, and designed to do... you feel a sense of purpose and life.
